Celebrate Mother's Day
Many moms are working harder than ever. Perhaps a little extra thought and love may be in order for this Mother's Day.

TIME TOGETHER
There is no gift like the gift of time, and we have a found a few ideas to help you spend it with mom.
Lexington Carriage Company offers 50-minute narrated horse-drawn carriage tours through downtown Lexington Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Book your tour for Mother's Day weekend; a real treat for families!
Boxerwood Nature Center & Woodland Garden is a beautiful adventure through marsh and meadows. Keep a keen eye out for wildflowers, turtles, and much more. Their Birding at Boxerwood event is held monthly from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., and wouldn't you know it? May's date is the Saturday before Mother's Day, May 11. Bring your binoculars and enjoy the views.
Some moms really love plants, and if that's your mom, you're in luck! The Rockbridge Master Gardeners are having their Annual Plant Sale at Sam Houston Ruritan Barn on May 11 from 8:30 a.m. until noon. More than 1,000 plants will be available for purchase, there is Kidz Korner, and there will be live music.
Tantivy Lavender Farm is a beautiful place to dawdle away the day. In fact, their annual Mother's Day Picnic Luncheon will be May 12 from noon until 3 p.m. Celebrate mom amid the lavender! Reservations required via their website.
A visit to see the overshot waterwheel at historic Wade's Mill is always a great idea. The mill is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. If you visit between 10 and noon you can see the milling equipment in action. There is no fee to visit the mill and you're welcome to enjoy a picnic on the grounds. Only service dogs are permitted.
Ecco Adesso has Mother's Day mimosa flights on deck as well as sangria, a curated wine spritzer, and of course, wine. Make yourself at home with a picnic of your own or gather something from inside, like pizzettas or charcuterie. Visit from noon until 6 p.m. at your leisure.
The Danny Goodson Band (rock and roll) will be playing at Rockbridge Vineyard & Brewery on May 12 starting at 1 p.m. Flights, glasses, and bottles of their handcrafted wine and beer will be available, and The Hitchin' Post food truck will be on-site, too.

The Colonial Dining Room at Natural Bridge has always been a hot spot for holiday brunches and Mother's Day is no different. Book your table for a seating between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. by calling 540-291-2121.
Devil's Backbone Outpost Taproom & Kitchen offers weekend brunch. If you're not a regular bruncher, maybe Mother's Day is an opportune time to dine on their deck! No reservations required. Brunch is from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
