1) North Rockbridge Trail in Bloom + Brownsburg Garden Tour
Fairfield, Raphine, Rockbridge Baths, and Village of Brownsburg
Saturday, July 2, 2022: 9am-6pm

"COUNTRY GARDEN SAMPLER" GARDEN TOUR: 9am-3pm
In the Village of Brownsburg and Rockbridge Baths, visit five beautiful, diverse private gardens on Saturday, July 2 from 9am – 3pm. Garden owners and docents with Green Hills Garden Club and Rockbridge Area Master Gardeners will be onsite to answer questions.

The tour starts at either Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Rockbridge Baths or Wade’s Mill in Raphine. Leave the driving to us! Jump into a shuttle at the above locations and enjoy the scenery around you! Shuttles will run constantly, so pick-up/drop-off will be on a rolling basis, about 10 minutes between trips. There is parking, shade/AC, and restroom facilities at each shuttle pick-up location. Note this is not a self-guided driving tour.

Food trucks will offer lunch for purchase at Wade's Mill.

Tickets $25 in advance; $30 day of the event at Wade's Mill. Tickets/Wristbands are required for garden access.

NORTH ROCKBRIDGE TRAIL: 10am-6pm
Take a driving tour through the scenic countryside in full bloom with wildflowers, gardens, and colorful plantings. Over 20 businesses including shops, vineyards, historic sites, farms, and B&Bs invite you to enjoy a stroll, a sit, a glass, an ice-cream & enjoy the local hospitality. Free admission.

Balloons Over Rockbridge Hot Air Balloon & Music Festival

It's all about the hot air balloons—piloted flights soaring overhead, tethered rides, and nighttime glows. Enjoy two days of balloons, local bands, a variety of food and merchandise vendors, beer and wine, and children’s activities. Free admission.

3) Lime Kiln Theater presents Chris Knight

The Chris Knight show is SOLD OUT!

Rooted in and inspired by the magic of a natural, outdoor theater, enjoy live music under the stars at Lime Kiln Theater. "Almost Daylight," Chris Knight's newest album, has cemented his reputation as one of America’s most uncompromising and respected singer/songwriters. Doors open at 6:00pm. Show starts at 7:30pm. 4) Freedom Food Festival
Downtown Lexington

Main Street is converted into a community street and music festival featuring live music, beer/wine sales, desserts, and tasty July 4th picnic-style fare. This fundraiser pairs local celebrity chefs and restaurants with area non-profits in a festive, family-friendly atmosphere. "Cook-off" meal tickets: $15 pre-purchase, $20 day-of-event. Reserved Tables: $250 (includes 8 meal tickets + 8 waters). Free admission.

5) Kid’s Bike Parade
Downtown Lexington
Sunday, July 4, 2022: 10am-noon

Kids can celebrate with their own parade! Gather to decorate bikes and get face paintings, then ride down Main Street en masse with families and dogs in tow. Free decorations provided to all. Refreshments will be available.

Schedule:
10am: Bike decorating & face painting begins @ The Hub next to Oak Grove Cemetery.
11am
: Parade begins down Main Street.

6) Music & Fireworks
Glen Maury Park, Buena Vista
Sunday, July 4, 2022: 6-11pm

Bring the entire family to Glen Maury Park to wrap up the Independence Weekend. Live music and dancing, food and beverage sales, and spectacular fireworks display that can be seen from miles around.

Kick off the night with a Concert and Dance featuring the Party Crashers Band at 6PM. $5 adults, children 16 and under are free with paid adult. Fireworks begin at 9:30pm.

Glen Maury Park
is Buena Vista’s 315 acre playground, providing miles of hiking and biking trails, an Olympic-sized pool, two campgrounds, playgrounds, disc golf course, as well as several event pavilions. The park hosts a variety of events each year – music from old time to classical, beach music to bluegrass, and gospel to rock n’roll. Around town you’ll find eateries and service businesses ready to provide what you need… all close at hand.

  • Sites range from primitive to full water, sewer, and electric hookups.
  • Tent camping sites are nestled along the Maury River with easy access to our trail system.
  • RV sites include wooded areas as well as event camping that will place you in the middle of the action.
