The Appalachian Mountains have changed immensely in the last several hundred years, both ecologically and culturally. From dense chestnut groves to freshly cleared farmland, come learn how the earliest frontiersmen made the mountains their home and how that settlement would change the mountains forever. Program will include a demonstration of some traditional tools used for cabin building. All are welcome to attend and learn but participation in demonstrations will be limited at the ranger’s discretion for safety purposes. For additional information, please call (540) 291-1330.
