Lexington is "One of the Best Downtowns in Virginia"
MAY 2026 -- Writer Lydia Mansel calls Roanoke home, but in her recent article for Southern Living titled "I Grew Up Along Virginia's Blue Ridge Parks-And These 5 Towns Keep Drawing Me Back," she admitted Lexington nearly won her over. Mansel called Lexington "one of the best downtowns," noting our unique boutiques, bookstores, and proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Her day trips to Lexington include stops at Pronto, walks along the Chessie Trail, and concerts at Lime Kiln Theater.
