A Taste of Gold: 16 Rockbridge County Wines Win Gold

The Virginia Governor's Cup is an annual competition among Virginia's 300+ wineries. Each wine entry goes through a single-blind tasting by six judges. The lowest score is dropped and the remaining scores are averaged for each wine. Those scoring high enough to go to the final round are tasted by 12 judges. Top scoring wines are then awarded gold, silver, or bronze medals. The 12 highest scoring wines comprise the Virginia Governor's Cup Case and the single highest scorer is awarded the Virginia Governor's Cup.
