Join Vicky Ferguson, manager of the Monacan Exhibit, for a workshop looking at one of the most useful items available to indigenous peoples: the humble gourd. Whether used as a vessel or bowl by those that lived hundreds of years ago, or simply a birdhouse or planter for us today, dried gourds find new life in a variety of ways. Learn about how the gourds are dried and used, and take home one of your own. Cost is 3 dollars per participant and supplies are very limited. Limit one gourd per participant. Please call in advance to register for this program at (540) 291-1330. Payment can be made day-of in the main level of the Visitor Center.
