A slideshow presentation and roundtable conversation will explore local challenges to Virginia’s 1924 Racial Integrity Act. The program couples new documentary evidence in the cases tried that year in the Rockbridge Court House, along with family mementos and oral history testimony shared by a descendant of the woman whose successful petition to receive a marriage license had been initially denied, based on racial re-classification. Presenters include VMI History Professor Madeleine Forrest Ramsey, Historian Sandra Hayslette, RHS Trustee Tom Camden, and RHS Executive Director Eric Wilson.

Wednesday, November 18
6 PM, Piovano Room, Rockbridge Regional Library,138 S. Main St.
RHS' monthly series, Revolutionary Films & Books: 1776-2026, will couple scenes from Ken Burns’ documentary, “The West: Ghost Dance,” with a preview and discussion of Kathleen Duval’s Pulitzer Prize-Winning history, “Native Nations: A Millennium in North America."
