Join Leaf & Lore for a signing and reading of A Place You Can't Escape, the first novel by Nat Richmond—the pen name of Rockbridge County resident Brian Richardson, retired from the faculty of Washington and Lee University's Department of Journalism and Mass Communications. 

Set on a Southern military base in the 1960s, as the country plunged into Vietnam and the Civil Rights movement was being born, the novel follows Brad Edwards through an adolescence that is by turns absurd, darkly funny and desperately real—and through one night he spends the next five decades trying to escape. Pulitzer Prize winner Lisa Getter Peterson calls it a book you can't put down.
