Local History Exhibit - Rockbridge Toys & Games
October 11, 2025 @ 12:00pm Recurring Event
101 E Washington St
Lexington, VA 24450
Join other Rockbridge neighbors in shared curiosity, nostalgia, and fun – while helping to advance the Rockbridge Historical Society’s research and interpretation – by bringing a unique or favored toy from your youth (or ancestral attic) to our Open House at the RHS Museum: FREE, NOON-4PM, October 3-5.
We're excited to see toys from all eras, valued by children and seniors alike. Share your stories and post images and associated tales to RHS' social media. Try your hand at old board games, and talk with RHS staff about possibilities to loan your own keepsakes to complement standing displays and themes (structuring ROCKBRIDGE AT PLAY: Toys, Games & Histories) featured in the Remsburg Gallery through December 2025.
Your artifacts, and the stories and provenance you can share, may prove distinctive or representative additions to a social media gallery we are developing for the public at large. As a special collaboration, Lexington's own independent toy store, JUST GAMES, will be loaning some of its own classics, and contemporary counterparts, for visitors to play ... or to examine its rare copy of LEXINGTON MONOPOLY.
Saturday’s extended hours are aligned to coincide with annual Apple Day festivities at Jackson House, their own children’s activities and historic games, sewing dolls and crafting scarecrows. For a running series of catchy images and narrative teasers, see RHS’ Instagram and Facebook pages @rockbridgehistory.
