LEXINGTON, VA., (July 23, 2025) – Today, Wednesday July 23, 2025, Lexington & Rockbridge Area Tourism released a new online survey to gather community and visitor input to inform their new tourism strategic plan. Anyone who has spent any time in these communities over the last three years is invited to participate and share their perspective.

The survey is available online until Wednesday, August 6 and can be completed with a computer, mobile phone or tablet. It takes approximately 20 minutes for local residents and business owners to complete. However, visitors will be served a shorter version of the survey, requiring just 10–15 minutes for completion.

“Tourism has tremendous capacity to support our local economy and improve quality of life in the region,” Sheryl Wagner, Executive Director of Lexington & Rockbridge Tourism Development, said. “But, it is important that we understand what success looks like for both our local communities and our visitor base. That will help us ensure our efforts and promotional strategies align accordingly moving forward.”

This survey is a part of a larger tourism strategic planning effort that is being led by Eddy Alexander, an international award-winning marketing communications firm headquartered in Roanoke, VA. Tourism industry outreach has been taking place all summer long and the full planning process includes both primary and secondary research, visitor trend analysis, economic impact reviews, focus groups, stakeholder interviews, and more. The final tourism strategic plan is expected to be released in late fall 2025.

“This survey will help shape Lexington Rockbridge Area Tourism projects and priorities over the next 3-5 years, so first-hand visitor and community feedback is very important. We hope everyone in the region takes a few minutes to be part of the process, and that all participants invite their friends and family members to participate as well,” Jennifer Eddy, President and Chief Strategist at Eddy Alexander said. “We hope to collect meaningful input and representation from locals and visitors that choose to spend time in this area for a number of different recreation, entertainment, relaxation, education, and business reasons. This feedback is critically important and helps us ensure the final tourism strategic plan will have everyone pulling in the same direction.”
