Foxtrot Trail at Glen Maury Park

At one mile long, the Foxtrot TRACK Trail at Glen Maury Park makes a loop to showcase native plants and animals.

Description

Discover the wildlife and native flora that are at home within Glen Maury Park. It is not uncommon to see whitetail deer or wild turkey in the woods.

Driving Directions

From the Lexington Visitor Center, drive east on Washington Street to a left at the stoplight onto East Nelson Street / E. Midland Trail (US-60). Continue six miles into the City of Buena Vista. At the Hardeeā€™s, turn right onto Beech Ave. (US-501). Continue through town and turn right onto 10 th Street, pass over train tracks, turn right into Glen Maury Park and check in at the park office.

Proceed up Glen Maury Park Road to find the kiosk for the Foxtrot TRACK Trail on the right at the top of the hill. There is parking and restrooms available.

Tips

Managed by the city of Buena Vista, Glen Maury Park is seven miles west of the Blue Ridge Parkway and 15 miles from Natural Bridge State Park. Music festivals are a highlight from spring through fall. Top-notch wineries, breweries, and restaurants are a short drive from the park. Lexington is seven miles west.

Insider's Tips

  • Look for the Pawpaw tree along the Foxtrot TRACK Trail. It's one of the only native fruit trees in Virginia.
  • Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at a table at the Double Decker Pavilion.
  • Swing the afternoon away with the kids at the playground. Don't forget to check out Holy Cow! Ice Cream back at the park entrance.
