Event Description
Planet First, a new play written by William R. Duell and directed by Jennifer Decker, August 1-2 and August 7-9 at the Johnson Theatre in the Lenfest Center for the Arts, Washington and Lee University, 100 Glasgow Street, Lexington, VA 24450. Planet First is one of several networked projects of “Gather Woods, Gather Words," a scholar-artist collaboration focused on climate change around the world, currently focusing on Brazil, Morocco, Europe, India, the UAE and the United States.
From the author: “On her way to a climate-warming forum in NYC, a Catholic activist from Mexico City stops in a small paper mill town to attend a protest and be interviewed by a podcaster. She meets a man, also spiritual, who charms her and who’s as concerned about global warming as she is. When she learns why, holy hell breaks loose.”
