Virginia Military Institute
Preston Library
411 Letcher Avenue
Lexington, VA 24450

The "Color of Freedom: Honoring America's Servicewomen", a 40-foot-long traveling exhibition, was created by the Military Women's Memorial with the goal of shedding light on the sacrifices and contributions of a selection of minority women who served in or alongside the U.S. Military throughout history.

Sponsored by Virginia Humanities, this interactive display will include the stories of various servicewomen of color and bring to light the impact that these women made while serving in various branches of the U.S. military. QR codes will enable viewers to access a selection of oral history recordings which were digitized with the support of Iron Mountain Entertainment Services and Iron Mountain’s Living Legacy Initiative.

The Military Women’s Memorial, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is the only historical repository documenting all military women’s service. It is located at the ceremonial entrance to Arlington National Cemetery and features an education center, interactive exhibitions, a world-class collection of military women’s stories, and engaging programs and events for all generations.

Available April 15 - May 17 during business hours.
