The Natural Bridge Winter Speakers Series is your chance to visit the iconic Natural Bridge State Park and learn about topics relevant to the park, region, and beyond.

Tuesday January 9th:
Black Bears of the Appalachian Mountains
Learn about the resident black bears of Virginia and the Appalachian Mountains. Dr. Pelton’s study in the Great Smoky Mountains is the longest running continuous study of any bear species in the world.
Presented by Dr. Michael Pelton, Department of Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries at the University of Tennessee

Tuesday January 23rd:
Film - Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time
Green Fire is the first feature documentary about Aldo Leopold, one of the most influential American conservationists. Learn about his extraordinary life during this showing.

Tuesday February 6th:
Present Day Issues Plaguing Native Americans
Learn about the myriad issues facing modern Native Americans from a Monacan tribal member.
Presented by Victoria Ferguson, manager of the Monacan Exhibit at Natural Bridge State Park

Tuesday March 13th:
Film - Murder Hole Cave
Learn about the storied history of this ominously-named formation with a viewing/discussion with one of its owners.

Saturday March 17th at 1 p.m.:
Bridging History and Nature: The Forests, Farms, Families, and Flags of Rockbridge County
Presented in association with the National Park Service and the Shenandoah Valley Winter Lecture Series. Learn about the diverse and fascinating history of the Rockbridge area.
Presented by Eric Wilson, Executive Director of the Rockbridge Historical Society

Saturday, March 24th and 2 p.m.:
Experience the acoustic singularity of Natural Bridge with special guest presenter Monica Hambrick. A music educator and alphorn specialist, she will present briefly about the instrument and play under the bridge.
