Dr. Lynn Rainville, the first Director of Institutional History at Washington and Lee University, will be giving a talk titled "At Home with the Presidents: An Ethno-Historic Study of Everyday Life at Lee House." Dr. Rainville will take a look at the design and construction of the house (located on the W&L campus) as well as the five years spent in the home by the Robert E. Lee family and their servants, subsequent presidents and architectural modifications in the years to follow, and even earlier communities that called the site their home.
Dr. Rainville's talk will commence at 12:15 P.M. in the Lee Chapel auditorium on Monday, October 14. The event is free and open to the public. Parking will be available at the Lee Chapel Visitor Lot at 100 N. Jefferson Street and in two-hour spots along Jefferson Street or public three-hour lots, also on Jefferson Street. A golf cart service will be available for transporting those with mobility issues to the chapel.
