On Friday, November 29th, the 24th annual Candlelight Processional and Tree Lighting will take place. The Processional will form up at 5:15 p.m. at the Main Street entrance to the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery where candles and holiday songbooks will be distributed. Participants are encouraged to join the group at that location. At 5:30 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus will lead the Processional down Main Street in a horse drawn carriage provided by the Lexington Carriage Company. The Processional will turn onto Washington Street and gather at Hopkins Green, where caroling will continue and the community tree will be lit, officially ushering in the holiday season. Local musicians of the Trio Festivo group will be leading the musical program at the Green. Finally, the Rockbridge SPCA will be displaying luminaries at Hopkins Green in honor or memory of pets or people. As always, the Processional is family friendly, open to all, and free of charge.
