Help us make welcome Lavender Fields at Tantivy Farm in Fairfield! They're a brand new agritourism destination offering live lavender for your own creative endeavors, as well as culinary, bath, and body products. The grand opening is May 5 at 11 a.m.

Athletes of multiple abilities converge on Lexington for the annual Road & River Relay across Rockbridge County and down the Maury River. Watch these competitors pull out their best for their team. It all starts at Jordan's Point Park at 7 a.m. May 5.

One of the most beloved shows offered at the Virginia Horse Center is Bonnie Blue National, and it's happening May 10-12. Morgans join Saddlebreds, Roadsters, Friesians, and Hackneys this year!


First Fridays in Downtown Lexington (May 4) is a family-friendly arts event. Peruse our galleries, meet artists at opening receptions, enjoy craft cocktails at TAPS or Rocca, enjoy the piano at Haywood's, or relish a farm-to-table dinner at one of our downtown restaurants.

The Travelin' McCoury's

The Travelin' McCoury's (pictured above) kick off the season at Lime Kiln Theater on May 4. The gate opens at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Perhaps one of Lexington's more surprising parades, HorseMania Parade of Painted Horses on May 5 is literally a parade of 13 painted fiberglass horses down Main Street. Each will be stationed somewhere in Lexington, Buena Vista, and Rockbridge County through the summer and fall before being auctioned in November. The proceeds benefit Blue Ridge CASA for Children.

Dr. Regina Longo presents a selection of films "that shed light on the role of state-sponsored visual information campaigns in Italy at the beginning of the Cold War." Don't miss Marshall Plan Films and Italian Cinema May 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the George C. Marshall Museum.

Boxerwood's Music in the Garden Series is a laid back evening in the field with great sounds by regional musicians.

Friday's in the Park is Glen Maury Park's live concert series. Bring a chair and a friend or two for Seven Mile Ford on May 25 at 6:30 p.m.


May 12 is the annual Puzzled Car, Truck, and Bike Show benefiting Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center. Head out for great food, vendors, and family fun at Glen Maury Park.


Celebrate mom, grandma, or even your wife with a special Mother's Day Brunch at Natural Bridge Historic Hotel and Conference Center on May 13! Reservations required.
