Happy Holidays! We love this season in Lexington, Buena Vista, and Rockbridge County. The Blue Ridge Mountains offer a stunning contrast to the warmth emanating from our downtowns and villages. Celebrate the holidays with us to enjoy all the festivities this season holds.


Whether it's for gaining inspiration, glimpsing into the past, or simply wanting to admire the beauty of the season, holiday home tours are among the best events around.

Enjoy an afternoon peek at how the Jackson's celebrated Christmas when you attend Christmas at the Jackson's on December 4 at the Stonewall Jackson House.

The homes of Historic Brownsburg will be open December 8 and 9 for a Christmas in the Country Tour of Homes.

Decorate your OWN home this holiday season ... a GINGERBREAD home! Natural Bridge Historic Hotel & Conference Center is hosting their second annual Festival of Gingerbread on December 15. Enter your creation and bring an unwrapped, new toy for Toys for Tots. It's a great time to show off your skills and give back something, too.


Lexington lit the tree on November 23, but Buena Vista unveils theirs on December 4. Just two days later on December 6, merrymakers parade down Magnolia Avenue for the annual Buena Vista Christmas Parade.

Lexington's Christmas Parade steps off from the top of Main Street on December 7. Secure your spot along the sidewalk to catch a glimpse of everyone's favorite, Santa Claus.

For more small town parade charm, head to Glasgow for their Christmas Parade on December 9. The Blue Ridge Mountains are a beautiful sunset backdrop prior to the floats rolling past.

The children of North Rockbridge have decorated trees that are on display at The Computer Doctor. Visit between December 6 and 22 during regular business hours to vote for your favorite.


There's no time like First Fridays to shop for the art lover on your list. December 7 is a great evening to check out the galleries in downtown Lexington to pick up a piece of art, jewelry, pottery, or tapestry for the special someone on your list.

Tune up your own pipes for a Holiday Sing-Along at Haywood's on December 12 at 6 p.m.! Our hometown piano bar is about to get lively with festive songs and a multitude of voices. Join in the fun!

Devils Backbone Outpost Tap Room & Kitchen welcomes local and regional musicians to set the mood and create an awesome ambiance a few times a month.

HOLIDAY DINING (even with Santa!)

Warm up with hot beverages at Haywood's before the Lexington Christmas Parade steps off on December 7. Stay for holiday entrees and live music by Bob Donnelly.

Is there anything more magical than breakfast with Santa? The Big Man is coming to Haywood's Saturday, December 8. Enjoy continental delights with Santa between 9 a.m. and noon, and get a picture with him, too!


Lace up and bundle up for the Jingle Bell Run in Downtown Lexington on December 8. Show off your best elf costume, Grinch, or even Mr. and Mrs. Claus while running or walking downtown Lexington. Jingle bells and adorable socks provided for pre-race registrants!

Natural Bridge State Park is a crown jewel of Rockbridge County (not to mention its name inspiration). Visit the park this month to take part in the following:
